Bible Commentary โ€” Privacy Policy

Effective June 7, 2026
The short version: You can use Bible Commentary entirely on your device without an account. If you choose to create an account, we store your email address and the content you sync โ€” so your journal, notes, and study carry across your devices. We use your information only to run the app. We show no ads, run no analytics, never sell or share your data, and you can delete your account and all synced data at any time from inside the app.

Who we are

Bible Commentary is published by Tullos Technologies ("we," "us"). Questions about this policy? Contact us at [email protected].

Using the app without an account

An account is optional. Without one, everything you create โ€” journal entries, voice notes, photos, highlights, bookmarks, reading progress, streaks, and settings โ€” is stored only on your device and is never sent to us. You can also export a local backup file through the share sheet, which stays entirely under your control.

Information we collect when you create an account

If you create an account to sync across devices, we collect and store the following on our servers:

We collect this information solely to provide the sync service: to authenticate you and to store and deliver your content to your devices. We do not use it for advertising, we do not profile you, and we never sell or share it with third parties for their own purposes.

How your synced data is stored and protected

Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Account passwords are stored only in hashed form. Your account data and synced content are hosted on Cloudflare's infrastructure, which acts as our service provider for storage and delivery. Access is limited to operating and supporting the app.

Deleting your account and data

You can delete your account at any time from within the app. Deleting your account removes your synced content and account details from our servers. Content stored locally on your device is removed by deleting it in the app or uninstalling the app. If you need help, email [email protected].

Bible content the app downloads

To work, the app downloads read-only Bible content โ€” Scripture text, commentaries, the dictionary, and the offline search model โ€” from our content server at bible.tullos.org. These are ordinary download requests for reference content and do not include the personal content you create. As with any internet request, our server briefly sees standard technical data such as your device's IP address; we do not use this to build a profile of you.

Search runs on your device

The "Meaning" (semantic) search feature processes your search text on your device using a locally downloaded model. Your search queries are not sent to us or to any third party.

Device permissions

The app may ask for the following permissions. Each is used only for the stated feature:

Content captured through these permissions stays on your device unless you use an account, in which case it syncs as described above.

Third-party content

Some study materials link to videos on YouTube. If you choose to play a YouTube video or follow an external link, that content is delivered by the third party (for example, Google), and their privacy policy governs your interaction with it. We have no control over, and are not responsible for, the data practices of those services.

Children's privacy

The app is suitable for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and an account is never required to use the app. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will revise the effective date above and post the updated version at this address.
